The Clumber Spaniel is the most aristocratic of the spaniels, not only because it comes from the French Kennels of the Duke of Noailies and the English Kennels of the Duke of Newcastle, but because of the long noble shape of its body, and quiet and dignified character.

The Clumber was used for hunting wild game, such as pheasant. At one time the Clumber was used in packs of eight to ten dogs, but today they work alone. They are known to be lively, precise, and intelligent.

The Cliumber's coat is thick, silky, not curled, and generally white with lemon-colored spots or speckles.

Like all spaniels, the Clumber is appreciated as a pet because of his friendly disposition, unique shape and attractive coloring.
